The lawyer appealed to the Prosecutor General in the case of a run over the human rights activist O. Gyulalyev
Baku/03.06.20/Turan: Attorney Fuad Agayev did not receive a response from the investigating authority to his petition in the accident case, in which human rights activist Ogtay Gyulalyev suffered. In this regard, the lawyer appealed to the Prosecutor General, Agayev wrote on his facebook page.
“In connection with the criminal case of Ogtay Gyulalyev receiving serious bodily harm as a result of a car collision on him in November 2019, I and two other persons representing his rights got acquainted with the necessary materials, including a video, in the investigation department of the Nasimi district police department. Then we brought to the attention of the investigator that in order to ensure a comprehensive, objective and not biased preliminary investigation in order to fully verify all possible versions of the case, it is necessary to request a series of evidence, study it and bring them to the case. I submitted a substantiated petition for this on December 17. Due to not informing me for a long time about satisfying and not satisfying the application, in March of this year I sent a complaint to the Nasimi district prosecutor’s office. Despite the expiration of more than two months, I have not received any response,” the lawyer writes.
Ogtay Gyulalyev was hit by a car when he crossed the road to the green light of the traffic light on October 29. On October 30, he underwent surgery with a delay of 18 hours, which brought him to the brink of death.
On November 5, at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the human rights activist was sent to Turkey for treatment. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation also took over the financing of the treatment. Despite some progress in Gyulalyev’s state of health, his response to voices, the movement of his fingers, he has not yet come out of a coma.
The investigation into the case of a collision with Gyulalyev is conducted under the Article 263.2 (violation of the rules of operation of the vehicle, which entailed, by negligence, inflicting grievous bodily harm to the victim), UK.
