Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov endorses the idea of holding weddings at the Baku Olympic Stadium. This will help to earn money to pay off the cost of the object having "excellent conditions for the organization of family celebrations and other similar events," the minister said in an interview with reporters. Moreover, the Minister proposed to hold the wedding, not only at the Olympic Stadium, but also in the Baku Shooting Center, noting that he personally witnessed the use of stadium in Madrid for such purposes. However, that in Madrid stadiums are mostly used for its intended purpose.
Baku Olympic Stadium, the construction of which cost 500 million euros, after the European games hosted sporting events only twice - Azerbaijan national team football matches with Italy and Malta.
Meanwhile, social networking users are sarcastically discussing the news about weddings at the stadium.

On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
