The Ministry of Culture did not allow the project "Wheeled Bookstore"
Baku/06.11.23/Turan: The Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan banned participation in the international book exhibition "Wheeled Bookstore", one of the leaders of this social project, the owner of the Ali&Nino bookstore chain, Nigar Kocharli.
According to her, to participate in the exhibition, Ali&Nino contributed 12 thousand manats to the Ministry of Culture for a stand of 74 sq.m.
"We decided that it would be nice to also present at the exhibition the social project "Wheeled Bookstore", placed in the car.
It was supposed to present a mobile store in the parking lot within a few hours. Unfortunately, we were categorically refused," Kocharly said.
"This is a social project, we do not ask the ministry for money or assistance. If they don't help, then at least let them not interfere," Kocharli noted.
According to her, the goal of the project is to introduce people to reading, to provide books to remote regions where publications do not arrive.
The Ministry of Culture confirmed to Turan the refusal of the "Wheeled Bookstore" to participate in the exhibition, adding that the reason for the refusal will be provided later. –21B-
