The mosque on the Sovetskaya Street will be demolished, and a new build will be built
Baku/01.06.17/Turan: The mosque "Haji Javad", located in the zone of mass demolition on the former Sovetskaya Street, will be demolished. Instead, a new mosque will be built in the upper part of the Yasamal district on Sharifzade Street (behind the publishing house "Azerbaijan".)
Today, the site of the construction of a new mosque with the participation of First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyubov, Sheikh Allahshukur Pashazadeh and the head of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli was observed. Sheikh Pashazadeh informed Turan about this, noting the special importance of the construction of the mosque during the month of Ramadan. The new mosque will be built to the next Ramadan.
Pashazade informed, the new mosque will be twice as large as the one that is now on the former "Soviet" street.
The plans of the authorities to demolish the mosque "Haji Javad" caused massive protests and confrontation with the police. The protests stopped after the authorities promised the believers to find an acceptable solution. -06D-
