The prosecutor offers to convict the eight participants on Guba events
At today's trial in Guba regional court in the case of eight defendants in Guba events on March 1, a public prosecutor performed. The Prosecutor Rosa Shikhaliyeva asked the court to sentence Farhad Abdurakhmanov and Samir Hammedova to six years in prison, Sakhavat Aleskerov - to 5 years and 3 months, Samir Talibov, Alkhasov Danyalova, Matlab Dadashov, Sarvin Chobanov and Murad Zakirov to five years in prison each, according to the regional representative of the Azerbaijan National Committee of Helsinki Citizens' Assembly (HCA ANC) Avtandil Mammadli.
The defendants are accused of willful destruction of property, public order offenses, the use of force against the police. However, they partially admit the guilt. The defendants and relatives of the defendants opposed the penalties. The next hearing will take place on December 11.
On the same day, a trial in the case of another nine accused in Guba events will take place. Earlier, the prosecutor suggested to sentence one of them to six years in prison, eight others to five years in prison.
Trial in the case of another seven defendants continues in Guba regional court.
There are also six other defendants on the events in the Guba region, including the head of the city municipality Elkhan Aliyev, chief executive of Guba regional television "Khayal TV" , Vugar Gonagov and Zaur Guliyev.
On March 1 thousands of residents of Guba region mad a rally demanding the resignation of the Chief Executive of the region, Khabibov Rauf in connection with exposed online videos, where he insulted the local residents. The protest turned into a riot, Khabibov’s villa was burned, and damage was caused to the buildings of the executive power. On the next day Khabibov was dismissed from his position.—06B--
