The preparatory meeting of the court in the case of Natig Kerimov and Inglab Ahmadov, the elders of the village of Nardaran accused of treason will continue on 23 January. The trial will take place in the Serious Crimes Court chaired by Ahmed Guliyev, Turan was told in the court.
Recall that the essence of the accusations against the elders remains unclear. The investigation does not explain what is meant under the high treason and in whose favor it was carried out. However, the residents of Nardaran traditionally condemned for treason in favor of Iran. On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
