The trial in the case of Veli Aleskerov will be closed
On June 8, the Military Court of Nakhchivan chaired by Gasim Aliyev today held a preparatory meeting on the case of the former Minister of National Security of the Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan Veli Aleskerov. According to VugarKhasayev, the lawyer of the former minister, the protection petitioned to postpone the trial because lawyers were not given the possibility to get acquainted with the affairs of materials. However, the application was not satisfied. The trial is scheduled for 10:00 on June 13. The trial will be closed.
For 15 years Aleskerov headed the National Security Ministry of Nakhchivan. He was surprisingly fired in December 2015, soon after that a lawsuit was filed against him on charges of misappropriation, misuse and abuse of power. After holding for a while under arrest, Alaskerov was released under house arrest, but was arrested again after he told the press about his innocence and torture during his arrest. Last week, lawyers said that a new charge was put forward against Alaskerov - illegal wiretapping, without specifying details. The lawyer also said that the defense had not received a copy of the charges, and the materials cannot prepare an application to the beginning of the process. In addition, the defense was unable to meet with the prisoner before the trial.-06B-
