The trial is over in the case of  N.Kerimov ,  the elder of the village of  Nardaran , is over

On April 6, the Baku Serious Crimes Court completed the judicial investigation in the case of  Natiq Kerimov, the elder of the village of Nardaran, and the former deputy chairman of the Islamic Party of Azerbaijan, Inglab Akhadov, accused of state treason. At the same time, the prosecutor asked for time to prepare the final statement. Hearings are postponed and the parties are additionally informed about the time of the next meeting. It is unknown what exactly Kerimov and Ahadov  are accused. However, earlier there were cases of arrests of Nardaran residents on charges of espionage in favor of Iran.

Kerimov was a participant in the national-democratic movement of Azerbaijan in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Subsequently, he was an activist of the Islamic Party and at the same time participated in the opposition's opposition associations.

Kerimov was arrested in early January last year. On January 19, he was released under house arrest. The arrest was preceded by a special operation in Nardaran in November 2015, which resulted in the killing of six people, including two policemen. In connection with these events, about 90 people were arrested. Some of them were sentenced to various terms on charges of illegal possession of weapons.

The group of accused, including the leader of the movement "Muslim Unity" Tale Bagirzade, was sentenced for long periods on charges of attempting to seize power and change the state system. The trials in the case of other arrested persons continue. -06D--
