Despite the existence of an informal state of emergency in Nardaran, local residents gathered at the funeral ceremony on the occasion of so-called 40 days of Imam Hussein in the Nardaran sanctuary.

At the same time, pilgrims from other regions were not allowed to the ceremony. In the village there are riot troops and the Interior Ministry’s special force, which do not prevent the faithful to visit the sanctuary, the head of the Council of Elders, Natig Kerimov told Turan.

However, he stressed that during yesterday's operation in the village 19 people were detained. Three people from the same family were arrested, because of which their mother had a heart attack.

The village is without electricity for the sixth day. Meanwhile, police posts are located not only in the entrances to Nardaran, but also in the neighboring village of Mashtaga.

Schools have been instructed to let the children go home early, according to local sources. At the same time, private transport is not allowed to pass from Mashtaga to Nardaran. -05B-
