Today is Akhir Chershenbe before Novruz
Today is the last Tuesday (Chershenbe) before the Novruz - "Chershenbe Ahshamy." According to the philosophy of Nowruz, in human life there are important four main components - water, fire, air and earth. Last Tuesday represents the awakening and revival of the earth.
On Akhir Chershembe in the yards are made fires and pilaf is cooked, sweets baklava, shakerbura, dried fruits, nuts, almonds, lit candles are served.
An essential attribute of the holiday table is semeni - young sprouts of wheat.
Similar rituals are performed also on Bayram Ahshamy, a day before Nowruz, the vernal equinox. This year Nowrus will be marked on the 20th March, and Novruz - on the 21th March. -05B-
