In the Baku Court of Grave Crimes on January 29 a preliminary hearing is scheduled on the case of the President of the group of companies AMAY Abdulla Abdullayev.
The lawyer Osman Kazimov told Turan Abdullayev is charged under articles 178-3-2 (fraud with causing serious injury), 179.3.2 (embezzlement on a large scale) and 308 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
Abdullayev was arrested in April 2014 and he faces a lengthy prison term.
Note that Abdullayev was one of the businessmen loyal to the current power.
However, in May 2004 an attack was launched on AMAY. In particular, the shopping center belonging to this firm near the metro station Ganjlik was demolished.
It is noteworthy that Abdullayev took this decision with the words: "If this is required by the public interest, then we have to demolish it." Moreover, he prevented the mass protests of the traders who did not agree with this decision.
Then Abdullayev invested heavily in the construction of a new shopping center AMAY on Nobel Avenue. However, this project did not justify itself and brought some losses, since there are two other shopping centers, Sadarak and Bina. -05B / D-
