Trial in the case of activists who painted monument to Heydar Aliyev
A preliminary hearing in the case of the youth activist Giyas Ibrahimov is scheduled for September 8, the Baku Serious Crimes Court, said his lawyer Elchin Sadigov.
According to him, the case will be considered part of judges, chaired by Enver Seyidov.
The activist is charged under Articles 234.4.1 (drug trafficking by prior agreement of persons or organized group) and 234.4.3 (large scale drug trafficking) of the Criminal Code. He faces from 5 to 12 years in prison.
Giyas Ibrahimov and Bayram Mammadov were arrested May 10 on charges of drug trafficking. They reject the accusation and say that they were arrested in connection with the graffiti made on the monument to Heydar Aliyev: "Congratulations, the slaves!" and "Down with the system!".
