Two More Lawyers Deprived of Authority
Baku / 24.04.18 / Turan: On the proposal of First Deputy Prosecutor General Rustam Usubov, the Bar Association suspended the powers of the lawyers Neymat Kerimli and Asabali Mustafayev on April 23.
"The submission was received by the Bar back in October of last year, but the decision was made only now," Asabali Mustafayev told Turan.
Rustam Usubov motivated his presentation by the fact that Kerimli and Mustafayev "politicized" the criminal cases on which they acted.
For example, Kerimli defended the rights of the journalist Afgan Mukhtarly, and Asabali Mustafayev defended the rights of the deputy chairman of the Popular Front Party Gezal Bayramli.
Mustafayev noted he had not yet received the decision of the Bar, and intends to appeal against it in a judicial procedure.
Recall that earlier the Bar also on the proposal of Rustam Usubov suspended the legal authority of Fakhraddin Mehdiyev. Earlier, the lawyer"s activity of Yalchin Imanov, who was excluded from the legal profession, was discontinued.
Before that, Khalid Baghirov, Alaif Hasanov and a number of other lawyers were expelled from the Bar.
Let us note that all these lawyers were engaged in the affairs of political prisoners, journalists and religious activists. They also defended the interests of victims in the European Court of Human Rights. -05D-
