Victor Shulman died

After a long and serious illness, died Viktor Shulman,  a famous Azerbaijani journalist, head of the Russian news agency ITAR-TASS in Azerbaijan.

Victor was born in 1947 in Baku and was always a patriot.

A historian by education,  he devoted all his life to journalism. He started in the city of Shirvan (formerly Ali Bayramli) in the local newspaper. Later he worked for many years  for the state telegraph agency "Azerinform", in 1993 he became a correspondent of ITAR-TASS, and then the head of the mission of the Russian agency.

Shulman was one of the few journalists covering the Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict directly from  the venue, often risking his life. His professional credo  was to be  an eyewitness to the event, do not rely only on the evidence of others, and  he did not change this credo until the end of his days.

Shulman was differed not only by a high journalistic professionalism; he differed also by decency and modesty. Victor was a good husband, father, and  grandfather.

In 2005, Schulman was awarded the title "Honored Journalist of Azerbaijan."

Turan agency expresses  sincere and deepest condolences to the family and friends of Victor.
