Who “froze” the surveillance camera at the place of Bahtiyar Hajiyev's abduction?
Baku/28.04.22/Turan: The rotating video camera of the "Safe City" system at the site of the abduction of activist Bahtiyar Hajiyev turned out to be motionless on the day of the incident (April 21), and for this reason did not record the number of the car in which he was taken away, the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told Hajiyev yesterday.
Six days after the incident, Hajiyev was invited to this department to view records from the Safe City system. “During the viewing, it turned out that in addition to two static cameras, the rotating camera located under them, on the day of the incident, did not rotate at all,” Hajiyev wrote on his Facebook page.
“The question arises, if law enforcement agencies were not involved in what was committed against me, then who could interfere in the operation of the Safe City system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs? said Hajiyev.
It was not possible to get comments from the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Recall that, coincidentally, on the day of the beating of opposition politician Tofig Yagublu after being detained by law enforcement agencies, it suddenly became clear on the cameras in the police department that “there were no records.” Why, then, does the state spend money on installing surveillance cameras if they do not work?
* Bahtiyar Hajiyev said that on the evening of April 21 he was kidnapped by four masked men. According to the activist, he was taken to the countryside, where he was subjected to humiliating treatment, demanding to remove critical publications about the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and pro-government activist Fuad Muradov, threatening with reprisals if he continued to criticize the minister.
Only 4 days later, in the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in connection with the statement of Hajiyev, a lawsuit has been filed under the Article 221.1 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code.—06B-
