Baku/02.06.23/Turan: Apparently, the police intend to bring order to scooter users in the capital. This is how we can regard reports in the pro-government media about the need to enforce traffic rules when riding scooters.
In particular, a scooter rider must wear a helmet and only drive on the right side of the road. Failure to wear a helmet will incur a fine of 40 manats. For other violations a fine can be from AZN 20 to AZN 100. This was announced by Baku Traffic Police spokesman Araz Askerli.
However, he did not explain how the traffic police will regulate those who ride scooters on the Seaside Boulevard and on the city pavements?
Meanwhile, "Winks" and "J-RUN", which provide scooter services, have appealed to citizens to temporarily cease operations "due to police raids".
Police sources told Turan that the tightening measures were taken due to numerous complaints from pedestrians who had been run over by scooter drivers.
For its part, the Seaside Boulevard Authority has banned the use of scooters on its premises since June 1 due to numerous complaints from citizens. -02B-
