Witnesses at the trial in the Nardaran case were kidnapped and tortured for refusing to false testimony, lawyer
At the trial in the "case of Nardaran" on October 28 a lawyer Yalcin Imanov stated about the pressure on witnesses. According to him, 26 October after a court hearing witnesses Valeh Abbasov and Samir Abbasov, refused to testify at the preliminary investigation, were taken to the Sabunchi district police. Together with them, the witnesses who did not spoke at the trial, residents of the village of Nardaran and Mashtaga, were also taken to the police office.
Abbasov and Babayev was released the next day. It turned out that in the 14th police station they were tortured with electroshock for telling truth at the trial and refusing to give false testimonies. The lawyer believes that the rest witnesses were also under the pressure, so they do not abandon their testimony.
The lawyer requested to send letters to the Attorney General, and a request to the Sabunchu police about the reasons for the detention of witnesses. Imanov offered to stop the interrogation of witnesses until this issue is classified.
The leader of the "Muslim unity" Movement Thale Bagirzade said that under such conditions the continuation of the trial was unacceptable. The judge promised to send a letter to the city prosecutor's office of Sabunchu police, and then spoke the employee of "Azerigaz" Firdovsi Sadigov, who said that he had been summoned to the police because of the favorable comments to the status of the deputy chairman of APFP Fuad Gahramanli on Nardaran events. During the investigation he was asked to condemn Gahramanli.
Other witnesses Ilkin Mammadov and Samir Mirzazade said they did not hear appeals of Bagirzade about changing the constitutional order. The trial will continue on 7 November. -06D--
