Woman in Opposition Interrogated by Police Four Hours
The Chairman of the Yasamal district branch of the Classic Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (CPFPA) Nisakhanum Veliyeva was detained by police on Tuesday. She was first taken from her home to the 29th precinct of the Yasamal District Police Administration. After keeping Veliyeva there for two hours, she was taken to the Yasamal District Police Department, where she also was kept for two hours.
The leader of CPFPA Mirmahmud Miralioglu told Turan Veliyeva was notified about her critical notes against the authorities on Facebook. The activist was demanded to remove the writings and only after she did that she was released from the police.
Miralioglu regarded her detention as "strengthening the police state" and "deteriorating human rights situation" in Azerbaijan. -06B--
