Women on the Present and Future of the Country

 

"The present and future of Azerbaijan through the eyes of women" - was the name of an event organized by the Forum of Azerbaijani Intelligentsia (FAI) in the theater Ibrus yesterday.
 
A FAI member Professor Rafig Aliyev described the theme of the meeting as not accidental. "In my opinion, women are equal to men in intelligence and courage, and it is important for us to hear what women think about the present and future of the country in a presidential election year," said Aliyev.
 
Another member of the FAI, ex-MP Gultekin Hajibeyli noted that on March 8 women met not in a festive mood. She called soldiers’ deaths the main problem causing the pain of women and mothers.
"Most of all we mothers must protest. How could we give our children to this army? When you think about it you are horrified. We should make sure that the soldiers come back from the army alive and well." The state is obliged to correct the situation," said Hajibeyli.
 
The human rights activist Novella Jafaroglu noted the lack of women in government.
The journalist of Radio Liberty Khadija Ismayil said that women have to give up privileges and demand equal rights.
"The problem is in the fact that women recognize themselves at a lower level," she said.
