Yerevan threatens Tajiks for twinning of Shusha and Isfara cities
Baku/07.04.23/Turan: A protocol on sister-city relations between the Tajik city of Isfara and the Azerbaijani city in Karabakh, Shusha, signed during President Ilham Aliyev's official visit to Tajikistan on 5 April, sparked a harsh reaction in Armenian society.
Previously Shusha had been twinned with Khiva in Uzbekistan, Kayseri in Turkey and Novi Pazar in Serbia; these facts have not attracted much attention of Armenian politicians. However, Tajikistan is considered in Armenia as a Persian-speaking state close to Iran, which is ethnically "obliged" to be in conflict with Azerbaijan together with Armenia and Iran, according to Yerevan.
"The geopolitical turn of Farsi-speaking Tajikistan towards Turkic Azerbaijan surprises political analysts, for this is happening against the background of worsening interstate relations between Iran and Azerbaijan," states "Golos Armenii".
"Doesn't the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan know that the legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh has not yet been defined? In fact, it turns out that being an ally and staying in one military-political organization on security together with Armenia (CSTO - Ed.), Tajikistan supports and encourages aggression against its own ally. Throughout the world, including Russia, powerful Armenian diaspora organisations have always supported and provided all kinds of support both to the Tajik state and the Tajik diaspora. The support has been in different spheres: economic, legal assistance or information support through the promoted Armenian media. Through partner media outlets in Russia I have systematically disseminated information in support of Tajikistan and the Tajik people who are friendly to Armenians," emphasized the publicist Aram Khachatryan.
He threatens Tajiks: "What has happened will certainly not remain without consequences ... The anti-Armenian decision of the official authorities of allied Tajikistan on the Armenian city of Shushi can have a negative impact on relations between the Tajik and Armenian peoples...".-0-
