How long will Azerbaijan have losses?

Baku/15.10.21/Turan: On October 14, a serviceman of the Azerbaijani army Hamzayev Afgan Bahram oglu was killed as a result of sniper fire from illegal Armenian armed formations. There is no doubt that this was a terrorist act, was a deliberate provocation during the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Minsk with the mediation of the Russian Federation in order to aggravate the situation in the region and hinder the implementation of the provisions of the trilateral declaration signed on November 10, 2020.

This is not the only incident of this kind, and it seems to be not the last. Therefore, the question arises - when will the end of the Armenian provocations be put and when will Azerbaijan stop suffering losses?

Security expert Ilham Ismayil answered these and other questions in the "Difficult Question" program.

The expert recalled that the trilateral ceasefire statement signed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the night of November 9-10, 2020 contains a provision (No. 4), according to which the peacekeeping contingent of Russia is deployed on the territory of the mountainous part of Karabakh, in the zone of compact residence of Armenians, in parallel with the withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces.

However, Ismail noted, this provision was not fully implemented, despite the fact that the Russian peacekeeping contingent was safely deployed in Karabakh, the Armenian armed formations were not withdrawn and still continue to remain on the territory of Azerbaijan. As long as they are there, provocations will continue. Moreover, there is a tendency for the growth of provocative activities.

The expert noted that just before the recent meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in the Agdere region, a certain Armenian tractor driver was mortally wounded during field work. The Armenian side blamed the Azerbaijani side for this. The Azerbaijani side denies its involvement in the death of the tractor driver.

Ismail does not exclude that the purpose of this provocation is to question the mission of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Karabakh, to prove that it is unable to cope with this task.

“We can say that all recent visits and meetings of Armenian leaders,  the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan, Defense Minister Arshak Karapetyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Catholicos Garegin II were accompanied by all kinds of incidents. The goal is to demonstrate that Azerbaijan exerts forceful pressure on the Armenians of Karabakh and Armenia, and the Russian peacekeepers are not able to fulfill their mission,” the expert said.

Ismayil also stressed that the so-called Self-Defense Forces of Armenians, in fact, are parts of the Armed Forces of Armenia. “There are not so many young people in Karabakh. Among the 6 who were recently injured in the explosion, there are no residents of Karabakh at the checkpoint. These people were drafted into the ranks of the Armenian Armed Forces from the regions of Armenia and sent to Karabakh. As a matter of fact, these are the occupiers,” Ismayil said. –0—
