The accused of the murder of 10-year-old Narmin Guliyeva faces for 20 years of imprisonment. Did the court investigate the contradictions in the case?
Baku/05.05.23/Turan: One of the main topics of discussion on the agenda is the prosecutor's petition to impose a 20-year prison sentence on Ilkin Suleymanov, accused of kidnapping and murdering 10-year-old Narmin Guliyeva in the village of Dondar Gushchu of Tovuz region.
On May 3, in the Ganja Serious Crimes Court, the prosecutor requested that Ilkin Suleymanov, a resident of the village of Dondar Gushchu of the Tovuz region, be sentenced to 20 years in prison, accused of kidnapping and hiding her in his house for 47 days, 10-year-old Narmin Guliyeva, subsequent murder and burning of her body.
Ilkin Suleymanov, born in 1973, is charged under the Articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia 120.2.4 (premeditated murder with extreme cruelty), 120.2.9 (premeditated murder of a person who is obviously helpless for the guilty), 133.2.1 (causing suffering to an abducted person), 133.2.4 (causing harm to a minor, helpless person), 144 (kidnapping).
According to the prosecution, he was jealous of his classmate Sharif Guliyev for having a family and children, so he kidnapped his daughter Narmin for adoption. 47 days later, he killed her and burned her body near their house.
Ilkin Suleymanov says that he was not involved in the death of a minor. Regarding the confession, in his initial statement, he said that from January 6 to January 10, 2020, he was tortured in the Tovuz region police Department. Four days later, he could not stand the torture and was forced to sign a confession. The Prosecutor General's Office rejected the allegations of torture.
Human rights activist Rufat Safarov comments on this and other topics in the "Difficult Question" program.
The human rights activist is convinced that involvement of Ilkin Suleymanov in the abduction and murder of Narmin Guliyeva is out of the question.
"The prosecutor's office states that Ilkin Suleymanov was arrested on January 10, 2022, but during the trial it turns out that in fact the accused was detained on January 6. The question arises - for what reason Suleymanov was illegally detained at the police station for 4 days?" Safarov asks.
According to him, during the trial it also became clear that Ilkin Suleymanov was subjected to the most severe tortures and testified against himself under torture. "In addition," the human rights activist noted, "the prosecution presented to the court as evidence some pornographic materials found in Suleymanov's smartphone. On this occasion, the examination gave a conclusion, according to which he was watching videos with transsexuals on his smartphone at 10:50 on January 8. Although on January 6, Ilkin Suleymanov was at the police station and his smartphone was seized. The criminal case contains an interrogation protocol, which states that at that time Ilkin was interrogated by the investigator. Hence, the conclusion is either the expert gave a false conclusion, or the investigator or operatives manipulated the smartphone by adding links with transsexuals," Safarov said.
The human rights activist also drew attention to the fact that, despite the fact that the body of the burned Narmin was completely charred, but the clothes that the child was wearing later were not completely burned. "How could this happen? A mystery," Safarov says.
According to him, these material evidence were presented to experts of the Ministries of Health and Justice and both expert groups gave their conclusion on the same day, at the same time.
"Obviously, this would be possible only if the "evidence" had the ability to multiply," Safarov is surprised.—0—
