BP-Azerbaijan company already laid off 255 employees
Since early year BP-Azerbaijan company, the main oil and gas manufacturer in Azerbaijan, started laying off its staff to raise competitiveness of the company.
The company reported that by present 255 employees have been laid off. “Number of permanent employees laid off in Azerbaijan reached 105, while foreign residents – 150,” reported the company’s press office.
The company explained that laying off of employees is a part of the plan aimed at raising BP’s competitiveness and efficiency in the current conditions. All decisions about laying off of the staff are made in correspondence with the Code of Behavior of the company and legislation of the country.
As a whole BP-Azerbaijan company plans to lay off 15% of its staff. By the end of the year the company numbered 3000 employees.
In Azerbaijan BP operates development of a bloc of offshore oil and gas fields Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Shah Deniz gas condensate field. In addition, the company is involved in two offshore exploration projects. The company also takes part in the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and Southern Caucasian gas pipeline projects.—0—

Data on Azerbaijan's oil exports for January-October 2024 reveals a significant drop in both volume and value compared to the same period last year, highlighting the challenges facing the oil-dependent economy. The country exported 495,484.05 tons of oil products worth $309.02 million, a decrease of 40.3% in value and 40.7% in volume compared to 2023, when exports totaled 925,225.07 tons worth $572.21 million.
