Heads of Railway Departments of Azerbaijan, Iran and Georgia Meet in Tehran
Until the end of November this year, Deutsche Bahn (Germany) will launch a test train consisting of 41 containers on the route South-West.
The decision was taken at a meeting in Tehran on the heads of the railway departments of Azerbaijan, Iran and Georgia, as well as the executive director of Deutsche Bahn Andre Hempel. The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by the Chairman of JSC Azerbaijan Railways Javid Gurbanov, Turan was told in the press service of the department.
The container train will be sent from the Romanian port of Constantsa and will arrive in Tehran for eight days. The containers will be delivered to the Georgian port and from there by rail - to the Astara station in Azerbaijan. Then with the help of trucks, they will be delivered to Iran’s Qazvin station. From there they will be delivered to Tehran by rail.
During the talks, the meeting participants discussed the prospects of development of the South-West international transport corridor, as well as the mechanism of transport of goods from India and the Persian Gulf to Europe and back.
At the meeting it was noted that South-West is the most profitable way of transportation on the above route. The German company has expressed its interest in the transport of cargo on the route from Europe to Iran, the Gulf States and India.
During his visit to Iran, the head of the Azerbaijan Railways informed the Director General of Iranian Railways Mohsen Pursaeed Agai on the plan to build a railway between the stations of Astara (Azerbaijan) and Astara (Iran) and a railway bridge over the river Astarachay. The Iranian side provided information on the technical capabilities of the cargo terminal, built at the Astara station in Iran. -------08D

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
