Russia Accounted for 93.5% of Exports of Fruit and Vegetables from Azerbaijan
In the first nine months of 2014, Azerbaijan exported 170,200 tons of fruits, vegetables and other crops. According to the State Customs Committee (SCC), the foreign trade surplus in absolute terms amounted to 49 837.8 tons.
The main part of exports (93.5%) accounted for Russia. The exports to Russia included potatoes - 48,700 tons, tomatoes - 52 600 tons, cucumbers - 2 486.7 tons, nuts - 4,200 tons, apples - 12 400 tons, cherries - 9 500 tons, peaches - 6 800 tons, plums - 3 900 tons, etc.
Total exports of fruit, vegetables and tea to Russia are estimated at $ 149.3 million at the SCC of Azerbaijan. From Russia to Azerbaijan since the beginning of the year there have been delivered 22 730 tons of potatoes and 284.8 tons of peas.
It should be noted, Azerbaijan customs officers continue to act in their roles: the imported goods are recorded at a price several times lower than the exports. Potatoes for export were recorded by the customs for the first nine months of this year at $ 647.5 / ton, while imports - $ 84.1 / t, onions when exported - $ 450.4 / t, and when imported - $ 62.7 / t.
Total imports of fruits and vegetables, including 5,783 tons of tea were estimated at customs clearance for $ 32 million 176 thousand. In this case, the market valuation of only imported potatoes (75 338.9 tons) and onions (18 833.1 tons) shows that imports in value terms are underestimated at least 5 times.
Exports in Azerbaijan are exempted from customs duties, and the importation of goods, including fruits and vegetables, is paid customs duty and VAT. --08B--
