"Silk Way" buys two "Boeing 747-8"
Local cargo carrier airline "Silk Way" ordered two cargo liners "Boeing 747-8".
According to the website of the manufacturer, the Azerbaijani side is willing to buy it at $704 million. The report says that at present, the airline Silk Way is one of the leading in the Caucasus and Central Asia, using mainly freight carriers Boeing 747-400 and 767-300.
"One of the goals of the government of Azerbaijan is to turn Baku into a strategic trading center. The purchase of new Boeing 747-8 Silk Way will expand its operations, and help it achieve its goal," reads the press release referring to Jahangir Askerov, the head of JSC "Azerbaijan Airlines".
Silk Way airline was established in 2001, and the first flight was nade on October 6, 2001. --17D-
