Houthis claim attacks on US and British ships in the Red Sea
интерфакс: Houthi rebels on Tuesday said they launched missiles at two ships in the Red Sea - an American and a British one, Al-Arabiya TV channel reported.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sari said in a televised statement that the Star Nasia and Morning Tide ships were hit.
At the same time, the Star Nasia vessel was flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, and the Morning Tide was flying the flag of Barbados.
The Morning Tide suffered minor damage and no crew were injured, according to maritime safety firm Ambrey. The attack took place west of the Yemeni port of Hodeidah.
Earlier on Tuesday, the US Central Command reported that US troops destroyed two unmanned Houthi boats equipped with explosives in the Red Sea in self-defense.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked Israel. In response, Israel launched an operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. These events have led a number of groups in the Middle East to intensify attacks against US forces in Iraq and Syria.
The Yemeni Houthis, who currently control a significant part of Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, as well as some northern and western territories of the country near Saudi Arabia, began shelling ships in the Red Sea. Since January, the US and Britain have been striking Houthi military targets.
