Nazarbayev offers to rename Kazakhstan into Kazakh Eli
The Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev considers it necessary to consider the possibility of changing the official name of the republic, transmit the Kazakh media.
"The name of our country ends with "-stan" as in the other Central Asian states. Meanwhile, foreigners are showing interest in Mongolia, with a population of only two million people, while its title is missing the ending "-stan." Perhaps we need to consider the issue of transition over time the name of our country into Kazakh Eli, but we have to first discuss it with the people," the President said during his visit to the Intellectual School of Atyrau and meetings with representatives of the public in the region.
The Head of State said in response to the words of the writer Rahimzhan Otarbaev, who said that most people are encouraged by the Nazarbayev idea of Menghilik Eli, especially his words on the country's name as Kazakh Eli.
Nazarbayev stressed that Kazakhstan will reach all the goals, preserving its unity and tolerance. "Our advantage is in a variety of multi-ethnic people," said Nazarbayev .
It should be noted that the "el" in Turkic means fatherland, and the "-stan" means a place of residence. The latter is used in the word "stanitsa" (village) to refer to the villages in the southern part of Russia. And the residents of those villages call themselves Cossacks. It is unknown how the villagers in Kuban and Krasnodar will respond to the new initiative of the Kazakh President, taking into account that many of the names of their villages are in Turkic. -0 -
