The key theme of the media agenda is the Day of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis, marking the 108th anniversary of the tragic events of the spring of 1918. On March 31 in Baku, detachments of the Armenian party Dashnaktsutyun, supported by the Bolsheviks, carried out mass killings of the civilian population, killing thousands of people and destroying mosques, schools, and homes.

During the period under review, Azerbaijan’s media agenda was shaped by a combination of domestic infrastructure challenges and external geopolitical factors linked to developments around Iran. The central focus was on the consequences of heavy rainfall that caused widespread flooding, as well as Azerbaijan’s role as a humanitarian and logistical hub amid regional instability. At the same time, media attention was directed toward oil price dynamics and structural weaknesses in certain sectors of the economy.

During the period under review, an increased role of the Russian factor in Azerbaijan’s media agenda became evident.

During the reviewed period, the media agenda in Azerbaijan continued to be dominated by developments in the Middle East and, in this context, the impact of the regional crisis on Azerbaijan. Media outlets widely reported on expressions of gratitude from Tehran to Azerbaijan for assistance provided to Iranian pilgrims stranded abroad. At the same time, attention was drawn to the growing role of Azerbaijan as a logistical hub in the delivery of humanitarian aid to Iran.
