Airtime for presidential candidates is defined
Draw of free airtime for presidential candidates in the elections on October 9 took place at today’s meeting of the CEC. According to the draw , the first airtime will be given to Zahid Oruc, self-promoter; the second - the current President Ilham Aliyev; the third - the chairman of
"Umid" party, Iqbal Aghazadeh ; fourth - the chairman of the party " Adalat " Ilyas Ismailov; the fifth - the chairman of the party " Modern Musavat ", Hafiz Hajiyev ; the sixth - the chairman of the party
"Movement of National Revival", Faraj Guliyev; the seventh - the chairman of the Democratic Party, Sardar Mammadov (Caliloglu); the eighth - the chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Araz Alizadeh; the ninth - the chairman of the Party United National Movement, Gudret Hasanguliyev; tenth - a single candidate from the national Council, Jamil Hasanli.
According to the head of the CEC Mazahir Panahov , on even days of the week there will be debates on TV between the candidates, the debate on Public radio will be on odd days, each time for an hour.
Free campaign on ITV and radio will begin on September 16, 23 days before voting day. Speeches of the candidates on TV will start at 19:00 and at 21:00 on the radio.
According to the requirements of the Electoral Code, the air time is divided equally between the candidates . Mazahir Panahov called on the candidates and their representatives "not to abuse the opportunities, giving preference to constructive political debate, do not humiliate other’s statements, and not to ignore the words of the announcer."
Out of 22 people , the CEC approved the documents of 10 candidates who were officially registered as presidential candidates. The previous presidential elections in the country were held on October 15, 2008. -16D04-

European observers are creating "distrust" between Baku and Brussels, stated President Ilham Aliyev on Monday during the presentation of credentials by the new Belgian ambassador, Julien de Frepon. Aliyev emphasized that the "binocular diplomacy" of the European monitoring mission is unacceptable and contributes to distrust in Azerbaijan's relations with the European Union. He questioned the necessity of extending the mission and increasing its numbers without consulting Baku.

Afgan Sadigov, the founder of the Azerbaijani website Azel TV, collapsed in a prison hospital in Georgia while on the 24th day of his hunger strike. His wife, Sevinc Sadigova, reported this, stating that he fell unconscious while trying to drink water and woke up to find doctors around him. Blood tests were taken, but he could not recall how long he had been unconscious.
