Allegations of the General Prosecutor that an employee of the Institute for Peace and Democracy, a conflictologist Arif Yunus violated the order of being under police surveillance, are unfounded, Turan was told by his public defender Yusif Agayev, commenting on today's decision of the court to arrest Yunus for three months.
According to him, every day till 18:00 Arif Yunus was registered in the police. He was ordered not to leave Baku, and he obeyed.
Agayev said that the real reason for the arrest of Arif Yunus became harsh reaction of international organizations and several governments to the arrest of Leyla Yunus.
Currently, spouses Leyla and Arif Yunus are both under arrest. In Baku they do not have close relatives to bring them food and medicine in jail. Therefore, family friends will ask the investigation team for permission to pass Yunus food in jail.
The defense also plans to appeal the decision about the arrest of Arif and Leyla Yunus.—03В06-
