Armenia downgrades its status in the CSTO
Baku/10.03.23/Turan: Armenia has submitted a proposal to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to give up its quota of Deputy Secretary General, Armenian media reported. Foreign Ministry spokesman Vahan Hounanian said this on March 10. He provided no details or reasons for the decision.
In practice, this means limiting the country's participation in the CSTO, which also includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Note that the position of Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO is automatically held by representatives of member countries.
As for the Secretary General, he is alternately appointed for a period of two years from each member country. -0-
