Armenians are going to launch the Khojaly airport
In the early summer of this year, Armenia plans to start operation of the Khojaly airport in Nagorno-Karabakh, despite protests and threats of Baku, Turan was told by a diplomatic source close to the OSCE.
Just for this reason the mediators of the OSCE Minsk Group take efforts to keep the sides from the steps and that might aggravate the situation and cause a resumption of hostilities.
According to the same source, the OSCE and the West in general do not see any possibility to force Armenia to abandon this idea, as well as there are no mechanisms to keep Baku from strikes on the airport as well as on civil aircraft.
Under the current situation, mediators and leaders of the Minsk Group have only to calculate the subsequent steps of the parties to the conflict, as well as their own actions in case of resumption of large-scale war.
According to the same source, there is not a single line, or the concept of the international community on this issue. It is believed that Armenia may deliberately provoke the situation to forestall military operation of Azerbaijan, and does not give it the benefit of applying the unexpected blow.
It should be noted that this issue can become crucial for Ilham Aliyev, who intends to run for a third presidential term. If the "swallows" it and allows the functioning of the Khojaly airport, it will have a strong negative effect on his rating. Therefore, the steps to aggravate the situation will only enhance his popularity. -02В-
