Army commissar of Khachmaz region arrested on bribery charges
Baku/06.07.23/Turan: The head of the Khachmaz regional department of the state mobilization and conscription service, Rahim Aghayev, has been charged with taking a bribe in the amount of 5.000 manats, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan reported.
According to the press release, operational investigative measures established reasonable suspicions that Agayev received 5,000 manats (about $ 3,000) as a bribe in exchange for assistance in recognizing the conscript unfit for active military service for health reasons.
A search was carried out in Agayev's office and evidence important to the case was seized.
Based on the preliminary evidence collected in the criminal case, Agayev was charged under Articles 311.3.3 (large-scale bribe) and 308.2 (abuse of official authority, which entailed grave consequences) of the Criminal Code. By a court decision, a preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against him.
At the moment, investigative and operational measures are ongoing in order to establish other illegal actions of the accused and identify the circle of persons involved in the crime.
Agayev was detained on June 4 during operational activities carried out by employees of the Main Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General.
Agayev's lawyer and representatives were not available for comment. —06B-
