Azerbaijan Negotiates with Israel the Purchase of Anti-Aircraft Complexes (AAC) Spyder

Azerbaijan and Israel are negotiating  the purchase of anti-aircraft short-range Spyder, reports IA REGNUM.

According to   the Israeli military sources, Azerbaijan and Israel are close to signing a contract, but the amount of transaction is not reported. 

AAC Spyder is a mobile all-weather  complex of short-range, designed to detect and destroy attacks  from aircrafts, bombers, cruise missiles, drones and aircraft precision weapons.

The complex can be used  to protect strategic facilities, such as air and naval bases, points of contact, etc. The complex consists of launchers on wheeled terrain, transport and loading vehicle, command post and radar that can detect and track up to 60 targets at a range of 35 km.

    Four missiles Python 5 and Derby on each launcher provide the  ability  to destroy  targets at altitudes up to 9 km. and at a distance of 20 km.

Earlier, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Udi Shani, said  that Israel could increase the supply of arms to Azerbaijan.

      According to Turan agency, in 2011, Azerbaijan has signed a contract with Israel for the purchase of arms and military equipment for a total of $ 1.6 billion, part of military goods arrived in Azerbaijan. If the parties agree, the Spyder will be commissioned into service of the Azerbaijani army in accordance with this contract.

Overall, in 2011 Baku imported arms  amounting $804 million  produced in various countries.—0--
