Baku/03.02.23/Turan: Azerbaijan plans to double gas exports to Europe by 2027, President Ilham Aliyev said today. "This is quite realistic, because we have resources, mutual political will and a high level of mutual trust," Aliyev said on Friday, speaking in Baku at the 9th Ministerial Meeting of the Advisory Council on the Southern Gas Corridor and the 1st Ministerial Meeting of the Advisory Council on Green Energy.

He stressed that the Southern Gas Corridor was launched two years ago and its expansion is now planned.

In particular, the possibility of raising the capacity of the TANAP gas pipeline (from 16 billion to 32 billion cubic meters), and the TAP gas pipeline – from 10 billion to 20 billion cubic meters is considered.

Aliyev reminded that in Baku in 2022 he signed a "Memorandum on Strategic Partnership in the Energy Sector" together with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. "This is a document on strategic partnership in the field of energy, which is a roadmap for our future plans," Aliyev said.

According to him, Azerbaijan is raising gas exports every year. "In 2021, our exports amounted to 19 billion cubic meters, in 2022 - 22.6 billion cubic meters, in 2023 it is planned to reach 24.5 billion cubic meters," Aliyev said.

It must be recalled that in addition to gas exports to EU countries – Greece, Bulgaria and Italy, Azerbaijan also supplies natural gas to Georgia and Turkey.
