Brussels Fails to Organize Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia
Baku / 18.12.20 / Turan: EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell said that his attempt to organize a meeting with the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia failed, Interfax reports.
“The trilateral format - the European Union, Armenia and Azerbaijan turned out to be impossible, so I will meet with both Ministers separately,” Borrell said at a meeting of the EU-Armenia Partnership Council in Brussels.
A similar meeting of the EU Cooperation Council with Azerbaijan will take place on Friday. At these meetings, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries represent Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“The ceasefire agreement reached by Russia on November 10, about 40 days ago, certainly prevented further human casualties. But last week, unfortunately, we heard reports from both sides of ceasefire violations. Full adherence to the ceasefire remains imperative,” Borrell said.
He confirmed that the European Union fully supports the format of the OSCE Minsk Group and expects that the co-chairs will continue negotiations on a comprehensive and sustainable settlement of the conflict. -02D-
