Çavuşoğlu on Lesson for Armenia, Monitoring Center and Negative Role of Paris
Baku / 12.11.20 / Turan: Turkey has been and will support any step of Azerbaijan on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu stated this at a press conference in Baku on Thursday.
According to Çavuşoğlu, Armenia should learn a lesson from the latest events and no longer try to occupy foreign lands. “If Armenia tries to violate the agreements on Karabakh again, it will receive another crushing blow and lesson. Either the Armenians, according to the agreement, will voluntarily leave the occupied lands, or they will face the decisive position of the Azerbaijani army. Yerevan should use the agreements for the benefit of the Armenian people. The opening of transport corridors in the region will increase the well-being of the residents of Armenia itself. The choice is up to Yerevan!” said the Turkish Minister.
Çavuşoğlu also called Russia's position on Nagorno-Karabakh “significant”. Turkey and Russia have reached an agreement on the establishment of a joint observation post to comply with the points of the statement on Karabakh. He noted that along with the Turkish-Russian Monitoring Center for Karabakh, separate "observation departments" will be created in the field. The location of the Center will be determined by Azerbaijan.
Turkey's role in the monitoring process will be the same as that of Russia, the Turkish Foreign Minister stressed.
Cavusoglu said that a Russian delegation will arrive in Turkey on Friday to discuss the details of the joint observation center on Karabakh. Observation will be conducted both on land and in the air by means of UAVs. After agreement between Moscow and Ankara, the issue will be submitted for approval by Azerbaijan, the Turkish Minister said.
The head of Turkish diplomacy further said that following the agreement on the details of the Monitoring Center, the issue of sending military personnel abroad will be submitted for approval to the Turkish parliament.
The Turkish Foreign Minister also noted that the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group should also learn a lesson from the events in Karabakh and abandon bias.
“The latest statements by France are a clear example of this. Paris should refuse to support the aggressor country Armenia and to criticize Turkey. The position of France, far from being objective, strikes a blow at the peace process and calls into question the further participation of this country in the peace process,” he said. -02D-
