Format where Baku and Tehran's interests coincide
Baku/23.12.21/Turan: Trans-regional forces have no right to interfere in the region - this is the common position of Iran and Azerbaijan. This was the keynote of Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahian's meetings with President Aliyev in Baku on Wednesday.
The 3+3 format (Azerbaijan-Armenia-Georgia + Russia, Turkey-Iran - ed.) promotes stability and peace in the region, he noted as adding that "trans-regional forces have no right to interfere in regional issues, and the countries of the region can solve their problems.
In turn, Ilham Aliyev said that Baku is seeking to expand relations in the political, economic and cultural spheres, and that important projects between the two countries should be completed.
"Regional issues should be solved by the countries of the region, and we are against the involvement of countries outside the region in regional issues," Iranian state media quoted Aliyev as saying.
Worthy of notice is the fact that there is no mention of trans-regional forces or countries in official communications from the Azerbaijani side.
In this case, the presence or intervention of external forces in the processes in the region is possible in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. More specifically, it is about the potential intervention of France and the U.S.
Baku and Tehran can be allies in this issue. Iran's participation in projects on the restoration of liberated territories and the opening of new communications will strengthen this alliance.
To all appearance, another important issue for Tehran is solved - the availability of a trade corridor to the north and the Black Sea. This removes the need for large investments in road infrastructure in Armenia.-02B-
