Gubad Ibadoglu has difficulty moving in the pre-trial detention center
Baku/04.10.23/Turan: In Azerbaijan, opposition politician and economist Gubad Ibadoglu, who is being held in a pre-trial detention center, has difficulty moving, his brother Galib Bayramov told Turan.
“Gubad’s health problems remain and are getting worse. Blood sugar levels are already 3 times higher than normal. The expansion of the aorta progresses, which increases the risk of its rupture. To determine the degree of aortic expansion, it is necessary to perform a computed tomography scan with a contrast agent. However, the Main Medical Directorate of the Ministry of Justice does not provide such an opportunity,” noted the politician’s brother.
In addition, he continued, Bayramov’s problems with his spine have worsened.
“Due to back pain, my brother takes three painkillers a day. Due to increasing pain in the spine, Gubad had difficulty walking. He began to move with difficulty. Due to a spinal problem, doctors in London, where my brother taught, recommended that he undergo periodic physiotherapy. However, due to the arrest, Gubad was unable to undergo the necessary course of physical therapy,” Bayramov further said.
He also pointed out that the authorities did not comply with the ECHR decision to provide Bayramov with effective medical care.
**On July 24, the Narimanov District Court of Baku arrested Gubad Ibadoglu for 3 months and 26 days on charges of making counterfeit money. The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry said that Ibadoglu is associated with supporters of Fethullah Gulen, accused of an attempted coup in 2016 in Turkey. On August 25, he was charged with another charge of "manufacturing, storing or distributing religious extremist materials."
Gubad Ibadoglu denies the accusations, considering them absurd. Many international organizations and officials have called on official Baku to immediately release the politician.
The European Parliament called for sanctions against Azerbaijani officials due to the persecution of Ibadoglu. 21В06
