Ilham Aliyev Laid Flowers at Obelisk of Independence
Baku / 27.05.19 / Turan: On the eve of the Republic Day, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev laid flowers on the Obelisk of the Declaration of Independence on Istiglaliyat Street in Baku. The monument was erected in May 2007 on the eve of the 89th anniversary of the establishment of the People"s Republic of Azerbaijan (PRA: 1918-20). It is built of granite and white marble. On it, in Arabic and Latin letters, there is a "Declaration of Independence, adopted in Tiflis on 28 May 1918".
On May 28, 1918, the Declaration on the proclamation of the People"s Republic of Azerbaijan was adopted in the city of Tiflis. The Republic existed until April 28, 1920 and fell as a result of the occupation of Azerbaijan by Bolshevik Russia. -06D--

Shamshad Aga, editor of the "Argument.az" website, has been found guilty in the Meydan TV case of smuggling (Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced to two months and one day in detention.
