Isa Gambar, does not consider the question of a single candidate resolved

The leader of the "Musavat" party,  Isa Gambar, called the creation of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF)  "a serious event in the life of the country." According to him,  the NCDF must clearly and unambiguously answer all questions relating to the internal and external policies of the country, he said.

At today's briefing, he said that when creating the NCDF the  question on priorities of foreign policy was  in the center of attention. However, shortly before the establishment of NCDF, the question was removed from the draft declaration. In the end, a compromise wording was found.

“The formula of the "Musavat" on cooperation with the National Council till the "red line" is still valid," Gambar said, adding that the "Musavat" has its own political and ideological principles, and is aware of the responsibility for the fate of the country.

“Musavat” supported the idea on the  election with a single candidate from the opposition, and considers the logical extension of a single candidate "in the formulation of a common strategy, a common goal, a common platform."

However, it can not be solved automatically and requires serious discussion.

According to Gambar, it is provided that the candidate from the  NCDF  will be nominated for  a two-year term. During this period reforms should be conducted, an there should be transition from a presidential to a parliamentary republic.

It is necessary to identify issues to be addressed at the level of parliament or put to a referendum. After the coordination of all these issues, "Musavat" considers it possible to support a single candidate.

All these issues will be the subject of discussions after the return  of Rustam Ibrahimbekov, the head of the NCDF to  the country  at the end of June.

Meanwhile, Gambar as a candidate for the presidency from "Musavat", continues preparations for the presidential election. According to him, this position can be changed after reaching full agreement within  the NCDF.

Regarding the nomination of Ilham Aliyev to a third term, Gambar said that the speech of the president  was not based on any program,  and he  did not explain what he was going to do. According to him, the third term  of presidency is contrary to law, what was confirmed by the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.

Responding to accusations  of Aliyev on "national betrayal" of the opposition, Gambar said: "The current government is a project of Moscow. The coming to power of President Ilham Aliyev in 2003 and keeping him in office in 2008 was done with the help of Moscow," Gambar said.

He rebuked the international organizations of  loyalty to the Azerbaijani authorities, violating  its obligations in the field of human rights.
Rather than solving the country's problems, the authorities arrest young people on concocted charges and suppress critical voices of repression and arrests, he said.–05C06-
