Khojaly tragedy will be remembered in Istanbul’s urban public transport
Istanbul / 25.02.20 / Turan: The genocide committed by Armenian terrorists against unprotected civilians in the Khojaly settlement of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region on 26 February 1992 has begun to be remembered in Istanbul’s urban public transport.
A 15-second video filmed at the initiative of the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Istanbul and reflecting the key fragments of the Khojaly genocide has been broadcasted on Modyo TV installed on metrobuses and buses starting from February 24.
According to information provided to the Turan Agency by the Consulate General, an agreement has been reached for the 28th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy to be shown on the TV of urban public transport by the 2-month correspondence with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Video footage will have been broadcasted on urban public transport until March 1.
Furthermore, posters prepared by the Consulate General and reflecting the Khojaly genocide have been placed on frame stands in metrobuses and buses.
The Consulate General told Turan Agency on the activities carried out in urban public transport for the first time that since using TV channel and poster sections of urban public transport to have Khojaly genocide reached the larger masses is one of the optimal ways, this way was considered appropriate.
The Khojaly genocide exhibition, prepared by the Consulate General, opened on February 24 at the Yenikapi station of Istanbul subway. The exhibition will last until February 27.—0—

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
