Meetings of Ilham Aliyev in Paris

Baku / 20.07.18 / Turan: Azerbaijan considers France to be a very close partner, a friendly country and is interested in further expansion of cooperation. This was announced by President Ilham Aliyev at a meeting in Paris with the head of the Senate Gerard Larcher.

During the conversation, a very high level of inter-parliamentary relations was noted, and the need for further development of this cooperation was underscored.

In addition, it was stressed that the relations between France and Azerbaijan and the discussion held during the meeting will make a positive contribution to the agreement to be signed between Azerbaijan and the European Union.

The Chairman of the Senate expressed hope that a comprehensive agreement between the European Union and Azerbaijan will be signed in the near future. It was stressed that France is very interested in signing this document.

The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict was also discussed. The Chairman of the Senate stressed that France intends to continue its activity with the aim of peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

During the visit, Aliyev also held meetings with the leaders of several leading French companies.

Thus, at the meeting with the executive director of the company Total, Patrick Puyanne, an exchange of views took place on the development of the Absheron gas condensate field.

The possibility of Total"s participation in the development of the Umid-Babek gas field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea was also discussed.

At the meeting with the general director of the Naval group, Herve Guia, issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and France in the military-industrial sphere were discussed.

It was pointed out that there are good opportunities for cooperation in the military-technical sphere. Azerbaijan is currently working with the French side on specific projects, the report said.

Aliyev also met with the managers of Thales International, Wilmotte & Associates Architects, Suez and Airbus. -06D--
