Mgebrishvili: Georgia is not involved in the disappearance of Mukhtarli
Tbilisi / 01.06.17 / Turan: Azerbaijan has never appealed to Georgian colleagues with a request to transfer to them the people of Azerbaijani nationality living in Georgia and not sharing the political views of official Baku. Georgian Interior Minister Mgebrishvili stated at a briefing in Tbilisi.
"First and foremost, it is in Georgia's interest to establish the circumstances of the disappearance of Mukhtarly," he said and added that the Azerbaijani side stated that Mukhtarly was detained on the border.
Further, he reiterated that there are "green lines" besides the checkpoints on the border. It is difficult to cross the border bypassing the border guard, but there is such a possibility, the minister said, answering the question how Mukhtarly could miss Georgian border guards.
"The media reported that Afgan Mukhtarly had a scheme for crossing the border bypass in advance, that this was not the first precedent and he regularly imported smuggled goods into the Azerbaijan Republic." At this stage we will not confirm or deny the aforementioned circumstances, "the minister said, without specifying exactly where he had read such "valuable" information.
The minister left an answer to the question that they showed the materials from the surveillance cameras at the place where Mukhtarli was missing. "We cannot tell you about all the investigative measures, we must wait until the investigation is completed," Mgebrishvili said. -0-
