Moscow urges Serzh Sargsyan not to abandon talks
The situation around Nagorno-Karabakh needs to show restraint; the primary task is to prevent another outbreak of aggression, said on Wednesday the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. "What is now happening in Nagorno-Karabakh, is a confirmation of our thesis, we voiced at previous briefings that now, more than ever, need to exercise restraint and to work for the stability of the recovery," said Zakharov at a briefing in Moscow .
According to her, the Russian Foreign Ministry "strongly believes" that the parties should resume the negotiation process, which is aimed at achieving sustainable peace settlement. "We believe fundamentally important to step up efforts to reduce the risk of war on the basis of existing agreements," she added.
"Right now, the primary task is, of course, to calm the situation, prevent further aggression, bloodshed, and, of course, to restore the atmosphere that is conducive to calm and the situation, and, of course, the launch of the negotiation process This is a fundamentally important things," said Zakharova. The there was a telephone conversation between the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and her Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian. The topic of conversation was the issue on settlement the Karabakh conflict, and respect of the ceasefire.
It is noteworthy that in the morning on 26 April was extended an interview with the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the agency "Bloomberg", where he actually announced the refusal to negotiate and put conditions upon fulfillment of which may be negotiated. Apparently, Sargsyan made it clear that now is not the time when Yerevan can put conditions, and today's announcement by Zakharova is another proof. -02D-
