Musavat: Events in Lankaran - provocation of the authorities

The party Musavat issued a statement in connection with the attack on the motorcade of party leader Isa Gambar in Lankaran on Sunday.

The purpose of the trip was to participate in the zonal meeting of the party. At the entrance to the road, a motorcade blocked several cars and more than a hundred people in the form of FC Khazar-Lankaran attacked Musavat. They damaged the car of Gambar, removed people from the car and smashed the windows, shouted insults and tried to beat the leader of Musavat.

As a result, severe injuries were inflicted to the deputy head of the party Aliaga Aslanli, who was knocked down by a car. Former prisoner of conscience Ulvi Guliyev was brutally beaten. Mehman Karimov, the cameraman, was beaten, then kidnapped and his camera was taken away.

The delegation of Musavat, to avoid further confrontation, was forced to leave Lankaran. Gambar left the scene in another car.

It is noteworthy that there were no police present during the hooliganism. The directed group of persons, who attacked the convoy, including women and young people, was managed by representatives of the local authorities.

Musavat declares that the provocation was organized by the authorities, who are trying to prevent the democratic movement in the country, the statement said.
