Musavat Party Condemns Repression by Authorities
The Musavat party condemned the repression against political activists in recent years. In a statement, the party noted that the electoral campaign for the presidential election takes place in an atmosphere of prosecution of opposition and youth activists, and pressure on lawyers.
In particular, the party protested against the unjustified extension of detention of the deputy chairman of Musavat, Tofig Yagublu, the adviser to the head of the party, Yadigar Sadygly, and the leader of the civil movement Republican Alternative, Ilgar Mamedov.
In addition, the party condemned the deprivation of the lawyer, Aslan Ismailov, of his office.
The statement authors urge the Azerbaijani authorities to stop the repression during the election campaign, to release the detainees, and punish the perpetrators of harassment of opposition activists. -05D06 -
