New Public Association - Civil Society Platform
Known representatives of civil society, lawyers and journalists announced today the creation of a "Civil Society Platforms." This structure was created for the purpose of submission to the public discussion of the country's urgent problems to find solutions. The Platform issued a manifesto to the public. "Now the main challenge for our society is overcoming the economic, social and political crisis, provision the fundamental rights and freedoms reflected in the Constitution, but violated in recent years," stated in the document. Among the country's concurrency problems identified in the Manifesto are: the devaluation of the manat, rising prices, high inflation, rising unemployment, the closure of workplaces, uhdshenie living standards, ignoring the views of citizens, human rights abuses, unfair judicial system.
This is not a complete list of country's problems to be solved. However, the authorities are not taking serious steps to address them, and only imitate. The crisis has been lasting for a year, but the government still has not offered specific programs to overcome it. In order to consolidate efforts to address these problems, civil society activists have established the platform for search of solutions.
"We believe in our future! Our goal is a free, fair and democratic Azerbaijan! Creative and light strength of our company would achieve these goals," reads the conclusion of the manifesto, which was signed by 26 people: lawyers - Akif Gurbanov, Alasgar Mammadli, Asabali Mustafayev, Khalid Malaga, Khalid Bagirov, Rovshan Hajibeyli, Yalcin Imanov, journalists, Mehman Aliyev, Shahveled Chobanoglu, Avaz Zeynalli, Aynur Imranov, human rights activists, Bashir Suleymanli, Samir Kazimli, Ogtay Gyulalyev economists Azer Mehdiyev, Rovshan Agayev, Samir Aliyev, and others.-03D06-

On the evening of February 5, it was reported that journalist Shahnaz Beylargizi had been arrested. She had been a presenter on the Toplum TV channel for several years. After a criminal case was initiated against the channel in March 2024 and nearly all of its staff were arrested, Beylargizi was questioned multiple times.
