PACE Bureau approves the draft resolution on Azerbaijan
PACE Bureau at today's meeting in Strasbourg approved a draft resolution entitled "Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Council of Europe: what steps are taken in terms of respect for human rights?", prepared by the Irish deputy, Michael McNamara.
Then the document will be submitted to the PACE Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights for further work on the resolution.
According to the human rights activist, Rasul Jafarov, the draft resolution calls for the release of Ilgar Mamedov, the leader of the REAL Movement, a human rights activist Anar Mammadov, and activists of NIDA Movement.
However, the session will not consider question of restoring Institute rapporteur on political prisoners in Azerbaijan. -06D-
